Arturia Pigments comes with great preset sounds, so many in fact that it can be overwheming to find one that works for you! These are the 5 best keys presets that come with Arturia Pigments (In my opinion)
It was really hard to narrow my list down to just 5, so at the bottom of the post, I will like my original list which was 25 presets long!
JPP30000
This is a fantastic punchy synth stab preset. It stands out because it can be easily turned into a thick melodic lead sound. In addition, the timbre knob creates more of a pad like vibe without loosing the initial attack of the synth, creating the illusion that you are playing two separate sounds.
Plucky Stab
A percussive pluck sound, with just the right amount of reverb. Can easily be used for a repeating idea, or for creating a rhythmic pattern underneath something more lush. The Hold macro adds a pad like texture.
City of The Lost
Eerie pad sound created from a self-oscillating filter. Now that’s interesting sound design. Timbre brings in some saw waves to make it a bit more traditional, and the FX macro adds rumbly distortion and some noise.
Random OSC
Random OSC is a giant saw based synth sound that randomly rotates between triggering only the notes you’ve played, and a fifth higher, creating interesting textures and some cool extra notes in your chords. While I don’t usually like using sounds like this, I just couldn’t remove it from my list because it was downright inspiring.
Tomorrow Never Comes
A very vocal lead type synth. It almost has a but of a Wah quality that comes from the formant filter. This type of a sound is great for call and response with a melody, and could easily be used in the chorus of a song as a feature.
For those of you wanting to get a better handle on synthesis, grab a copy of my quick synth map where I break down each part of a synth and what it does.
