Mainstage hasn’t been stable enough for you, so you have decided to switch to Ableton.
You open Ableton, play around, maybe find a few sounds you like, only to realize:
- You don’t have any good preset sounds
- The patches you do have aren’t as good as what you had in Mainstage
- Switching patches seems impossible, or at least unintuitive
- Nothing on the screen helps you see what you are doing
You are frustrated, discouraged, and not really sure how to take the next steps forward.
That was me 5 years ago…
The performance that changed everything
I was once a devoted Mainstage user until I started working on a project that had a ton of programming, patch changes, and tracks.
After months of practicing, and programming in Mainstage, my friend and I played a show that I will never forget.
Moments after setting up, my computer crashed. I had no way to fix the problem, and no way to keep playing.
I ended up needing to play just with the sounds on my Korg keyboard.
I was extremely frustrated to see months of preparation be wasted simply because Mainstage couldn’t handle it
I knew I needed to make a change, and so I began looking for other options, which eventually led me to start using Ableton.
But it wasn’t “love at first sight…”
Ableton wasn’t as seamless a jump from mainstage as I hoped it would be.
- I couldn’t find quality sounds that worked for me in Ableton’s presets
- Switching patches made little to no sense
- What should have been simple tasks took too long
- Even after testing everything, my live sets would still have glaring flaws
After spending countless hours on forums, youtube, and other resources, I finally began to feel like I knew what was happening in Ableton. And that is when the magic happened.
- I worked FASTER in Ableton than in Mainstage
- Ableton to this day has not crashed during a performance ONCE
- I can create many more types of patch lists than I could in Mainstage
- I have more command and control of my sounds in Ableton than I ever did in Mainstage.
That is why I created the Mainstage To Ableton E Course
Switching from Mainstage doesn’t have to be difficult.
In fact, knowing just a few simple things will have you creating functional live performance set-ups in no time at all.
I have already done the hard work of understanding how to bridge the gap between the two worlds.
And I know there are many others like you, who are going through the same transition
