Easy Piano Worship Chord Voicing

Not only is this easy piano worship chord voicing super simple, but it also is the one that I use more than any other voicing when I am playing at a church.

This one worship chord voicing could get you through 90% of worship songs being written right now.

If you are thinking,

“Most of the songs I play have more than one chord”

to that I would reply, even still this chord voicing will most likely get you through it. (And it also sounds great too, so even if you aren’t 100% sure what you are doing, no one else will know it).

The Reveal

There it is!

If you are wondering why there are question marks in the bottom staff, then you are asking the right question

Chameleon Chords

The identity of the chord pictured above is determined entirely on what you place in your left hand.

That means depending on what you play in the bottom, the identity of the chord changes, hence the term, ” Chameleon Chords”

This works especially well using the I, IV, V, and iv chords.

Give It A Go

To really give it a go, here is a bit of a fun activity. Let’s use only this voicing to play the following 4 songs, all in the key of C.

  1. Reckless Love (vi, V, IV, I)
  2. Lion And The Lamb (I, IV, I, V)
  3. Breakthrough (vi, IV, I V)
  4. How Great Is Our God? (I, vi, IV, V)

It’s a wonderful and interesting thing to see just how good it sounds using this one voicing for all those chords in all those songs

Add Some Rhythm

To embellish this easy piano worship chord voicing just a little bit, you can play any of the notes from the right hand voicing in a rhythm that makes sense. Often times, I will play some sort of a rhythm pattern in between melody line phrases.
